I thought I’d add a regular monthly post on recent books I’ve read and recommend. I’ve listed a few below with links and a brief description. Consider checking them out (and other books by the authors as well). Enjoy!
The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw – This was the book I didn’t realize I needed. It’s so, so good! Atmospheric setting; unique characters; interesting plot. It’s one of those books you can read in a couple of sittings. I highly recommend!
Amazon’s short description: Hocus Pocus and Practical Magic meet the Salem Witch Trials in this haunting story about three sisters on a quest for revenge – and how love may be the only thing powerful enough to stop them.
Expiration Date by Kristin Coley – This was a page-turner! I loved the characters and the premise. I also loved how multiple storylines were weaved in, moving from one character’s perspective to the next, all meeting up for an exciting conclusion. I know this is a standalone, but I’d be happy to hear another story from this world is being planned. Just a thought!
Amazon’s short description: Hope Lancaster is a loner by choice. Born with a disturbingly morbid talent, she prefers to keep people at a distance.
Until he shows up.
His presence defies everything she’s ever known and sparks a curiosity she can’t ignore.
When death is inevitable, how far will you go to live?
A Royal Christmas Wish by Lizzie Shane – This is the perfect Hallmark Christmas story. I loved the characters, the setting, the magical wish: all the right elements for a cozy, feel-good Christmas story. If you like unexpected royalty, a touch of magic, and a cute little furry friend as a sidekick, then I highly recommend this book.
And I vote for this story to be added to Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas movie list!
Amazon’s short description: Jenny knows she isn’t the princess type. Sure, she’s friendly and caring, but with her clumsiness and lack of self-confidence, glass slippers would only make her trip. When Dom, the cute guy she runs into in the park, turns out to be the prince of San Noelle, she figures he must not be her happy ever after.
But a mysterious countess grants Jenny’s one wish, and she finds herself married to this handsome prince! Unfortunately, at the stroke of midnight on Christmas night, her life will go back to normal.
In funny and touching ways, Jenny navigates royal traditions the best she can. But even as she grows closer to Dom, the clock is ticking. With love and a little holiday magic, could she somehow make the enchantment last forever?
